LisaCares NH…Our Inspiration
Founder Lisa Saddler writes:
My grandmother was my inspiration in becoming a caregiver. More than once, she said to me, “Lisa, you should be a caregiver. You’d be good at it.” At the time, I was a busy young mom, and the idea felt impossible. I had my hands full raising my children and couldn’t imagine adding more to my plate. So, I brushed it off. As time went on and my circumstances changed, I found myself accepting a part-time caregiver position at a local agency. From the very beginning, something clicked. Patience, empathy, and compassion have always come naturally to me, and caregiving became more than just a job… it gave me a renewed sense of purpose. With my children grown and more independent, I found fulfillment in a new role: being there for others when they needed it most. So how did this journey begin? It started with my grandmother planting the seed. When the timing was right, I followed through. I enrolled in many caregiving courses and began learning how to care for people with dementia, disabilities, terminal illnesses, and age-related challenges. Each person I cared for brought a different story and a different need. No two individuals were alike, but that was part of the joy… getting to know them, building relationships, and making their days a little better. That’s what it’s all about for me: caring for others when they need a helping hand, making their days the best they can be in circumstances that may be challenging.
